GRAMMY-AWARD WINNING MEN’S VOCAL ENSEMBLE ANNOUNCES
“A SUMMER AFTERNOON OF MUSIC”

Event will honor Music Director Joseph H. Jennings and benefit the Joseph H. Jennings Fund for Music

San Francisco, July 31, 2007 – Chanticleer, the internationally-acclaimed, 12-man vocal ensemble, announces “A Summer Afternoon of Music” on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Allied Arts Guild, Menlo Park, CA. Proceeds will support the Joseph H. Jennings Fund for Music, which is used for underwriting the cost of commissioning new choral works for Chanticleer performance, recording and publication.

The afternoon will include an hors d’oeuvres and wine reception featuring La Crema wines and an array of unique silent auction items. The men of Chanticleer will be on hand, along with members of the Board of Trustees, Chanticleer’s Music Director Joseph H. Jennings, and Chanticleer’s President and General Director, Christine Bullin. Following the reception and auction, the men of Chanticleer will present an intimate concert.

Tickets are priced at $75 per person and event capacity is limited. To make reservations, contact Russ Walton (415-252-8589 ext.309, rwalton<at>chanticleer.org). A large portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible. Attendees will be listed as supporters of the Joseph H. Jennings Fund for Music in 2007-08 Season performance programs. Dress is cocktail attire, with “summer hats optional”; free parking available.

Chanticleer has developed a remarkable reputation for its vivid interpretation of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, and from gospel to venturesome new music. Chanticleer also has a long history of commissioning new works and supporting contemporary composers.

With its seamless blend of 12 male voices, ranging from countertenor to bass, the ensemble has earned international renown as “an orchestra of voices”. Hailed by The New Yorker as “America’s favorite choral ensemble,” the GRAMMYâ Award-winning group will perform more than 100 concerts across the United States this upcoming season. The ensemble has just returned from a three week tour of Europe, including performances at the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland.
